Autumn TBR
The Spooky Season has officially begun! The 'ber months are here!
In these months where the weather is getting cooler and the vibes are more immaculate, a cozy, spooky book is the perfect cherry, or pumpkin, on top. These books jumped out and caught my attention at the bookstore and have been on my to-be-read (TBR) shelf for a while. I plucked these specific titles out because they belong in my hand with a pumpkin spice latte.

The Witches of Cambridge by Alice Hoffman
If this author sounds familiar to you, it's because she wrote the famous Practical Magic series. Have you guys seen the second movie? VIBES=IMMACULATE. I want to be a witch and have powers so bad. That is one of the reasons I love reading a fantasy book, the magic. The energy and connection to a part of magic that exists in these characters is something I am jealous of and I am so desperate to have. I know I am not the only one who wished they received a letter to Hogwarts.
Practical Magic makes me feel like I am a part of that world and it highlights a family of women who would do anything for each other. I have a group of women that I would do anything for and to see that energy put on a screen is special.
I am excited to see if this author has done it again. From the description, I believe she has.
This book takes place in Massachusetts and it focuses on two women who meet at Radcliffe College. They have very different backgrounds, but they are similar in one very strong way: They are both recruited to the Lilith Society. The Lilith Society is a community of witches that dates back to the witch trials and colonial times. Women from this society start to go missing, and I'm assuming it gets more and more adventurous from there.
I will be manifesting that there is a secret society that recruits women when they turn 30 instead of 18 and I am assuming my Hogwarts letter will arrive any day now.
If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio
I have to be careful whenever I start a thriller. Thrillers can be real. There are probably real events out there, past, present, or future, that closely resemble the fictional thriller stories we read. That is terrifying. So, I will be reading thrillers in the presence of friends and loved ones, or bright and early in the morning, in order to prevent anything scary from happening in real life.
This book is about seven friends who are students and actors at Dellecher Classical Conservatory. Something bad happened, and all seven of them had to convince themselves, each other, and the police of their innocence. Ten years later, one of the seven, Oliver, is ready to tell his story to the detective that put him in jail.
Chills....
When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker
The cover of this book really drew me in. I was looking for a book with dragons in it after reading Fourth Wing. This book came up multiple times as a recommendation for me through friends, Goodreads, and Instagram. I did not realize it was a two-book series until I did a little more research.
Dragons sound like the coolest creature to have a bond with. An intimidating and scary creature, depending on the universe, but the coolest. I have a deep love and respect for animals, so any book that has a connection to an animal in some way earns extra stars for me.
She is an assassin. He is a dragon rider. It is a world filled with magic, dragons, and love. She is on the run and he will do anything to save her.
Sounds like the perfect book for anyone who liked Throne of Glass.
Since these books are on my TBR, I have not read them yet, but I am excited to see if my predictions are true!
Masters of Death by Olivie Blake
Olivie Blake is the author who wrote The Atlas Six series. Those books were very good. I am not usually someone who likes a constant change of POVs, but she does this very well in the three-book series. She also wrote a book with a series of short stories called Januaries. Masters of Death does not change POVs like her other books, but she writes very well and I am excited to see how this book turns out! I am clearly a fan of her writing, which is why she turned up again in the TBR. The cover page also has a skeleton on it and it has sprayed edges. The author caught my eye but then the aesthetic drew me in further.
Masters of Death takes the current everyday life and adds creatures like vampires, ghosts, angels, and reapers into the story. Viola is a real estate agent, and a vampire, who is trying to sell a haunted house. Fox is a fake medium who also happens to be the godson of Death. Viola asks Fox to help her with the haunted house situation and it turns into a mystery that neither of them were expecting.

Those are my four books on the Autumn TBR. I am not sure if I will finish all of them this season, I probably won't. Especially because I didn't know When the Moon Hatched was a series.
Hope you enjoy! Let me know if you have read these books, or if you are placing one of them on your TBR list.
Happy reading,
Jo

If we were villains was really good, I read it last year! Excellent fall vibes, very dark academia! It also reminds me of The Secret History, but I liked this one more.
