How to Build Your Dream Library

I am a huge fan of paper books. I understand the downsides: they are more costly, it is worse for the environment, and they take up a lot of space. The upsides far outweigh those downsides. Paper books are my escape from the screens that surround our everyday life. It is my escape and my screen-free time. The smell of a book is one of my favorite scents in the world, and the aesthetic of a great bookshelf can bring your home together. Don't get me wrong, a Kindle is very convenient. It is easier to travel with, and I don't have to go to the bookstore to get the next book of a series that I cannot put down. I see both sides; I guess that is the Libra part of me.

My Dream Library

Belle is my favorite princess because of her love for reading. I don't believe I am alone in that. One day, I would be so grateful to have a library that is so large you need a ladder to reach all the books.

Mine is a work in progress, and there are some cool little sections that expand into some of my hobbies that I am excited to share. Some of you may want to implement these characteristics into your library, and I hope you do! Please share pictures!

My Library

As you can see, it is nothing like the library from Beauty and the Beast, but I am very proud of it. Some notable series on these shelves include The Maasverse, Dungeon Crawler Carl, The Hunger Games, and so much more. I have some other bookshelves scattered throughout my apartment. For the most part, this is my fiction collection. Most of my nonfiction books are in my office area. Here are some zoom-in pictures of some of the little sections in my library:

The Sections

The TBR section: I know that the TBR list is long. Ultimately, it comes down to the fact that I have no discipline or impulse control when I step foot into a bookstore.

The Superhero section: This clearly shows that I am obsessed with Spiderman. Did everyone see the most recent movie? AMAZING. Also, please do not judge the Infinity Gauntlet. It is half-finished because my cat knocked it over, and I have not had the energy to try to figure out how to put it back together or if I even have all the pieces.

The Record Player section: I stole this idea from some friends. They are actually the same friends that showed me where I can purchase bookshelves like these. It is a perfect addition to the book chaos. As I am perusing through my book collection, it is the perfect time to put on a record. If I have people over, I can put on a record, and that draws them to the bookshelf, which then draws them to the books, which then starts a conversation about books. Yay!

The Harry Potter section: I strongly believe that being a Harry Potter fan is very similar to being a Disney adult. Don't judge, just have fun, okay? In case you were wondering, even though I know you weren't, I always get different results between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff whenever I decide to retake the quiz.

Conclusion

I hope you have fun building your dream library. Whether it is on your Kindle, borrowing a book from a friend, or creating a dream library full of books, I cannot wait to talk about it all with you.

Happy reading,

Jo
